With reference to Mr. Ellis's letters of 11th

and 27th June, (52878/28), I have to inform you that

the Selection Committee at their meeting on 3th August

decided to recommend r. Geoffrey Alton Craig Herklots

for appointment as Reader in Biology, Mr. Robert Asht on

Hill for appointment as Lecturer in Chemistry and

Mr. David Frederick Davies for appointment as Lecturer

in Physics at the University of Hong Kong.

Particulars of the qualifications of these gentlemen

are enclosed.

r. W.W. Hornell, C.I.E., Vice-Chancellor of

Hong Kong University, was a member

of the Selection

Committee on this occasion and these recommendations

are of course made with his support.
